Welcome!!!
One of the most fascinating and diverse species that inhabits this planet is the amoeba. It is quite interesting that there is so much debate among taxonomists on its classifaction since there are so many diverse species in nature. The large free-living amoeba had been known for 200 years. Amazingly, the first man to discover the amoeba was not Antoine van Leeuvenhoek, the inventor of the microscope. The first man to observe and describe the amoeba was Rosel von Rosenhof. This webpage contains general information on amoebas regarding their characteristics and classification. |
